The New York Mets and Boston Red Sox kick off their three games series on Friday at Fenway Park.
The Mets sit with a 45-51 record overall and they have been one of the most disapointing teams in all of baseball. The Mets won two of three against the White Sox in the last series, but they also lost their game on Thursday. The Mets scored only two runs, and that didn’t give them much of a chance. Pete Alonso has been inconsistent this season, but he has still hit 26 home runs and driven in 63 RBIs. On the mound for the Mets will be Kodai Senga who sits with a 7-5 record and an ERA of 3.20. Over his last two starts he has gone 14 innings total and given up two runs.
The Red Sox sit with a 51-46 record overall but they are coming off two straight losses against the Oakland Athletics. The offense only scored five runs during the two games and that led to the defeats. The Red Sox are averaging 5.1 runs while their pitching is giving up 4.65 runs per game. On the mound for the Red Sox will be Kutter Crawford who sits with a 4-4 record and an ERA of 3.74. Crawford looked good in his last start going six innings and giving up zero runs. Crawford however did walk four batters, and he needs to clean that up.

Shane’s Free Pick
Even though Crawford didn’t give up any runs he did walk four in his last start and that is a big concern heading into this game. The Mets are averaging 3.36 walks per game and they are going to have no issues being patient at the plate. Senga has given up only two runs over his last 14 innings and he’s going to lockdown here. The Mets will give him enough run support to secure the victory.
