The Milwaukee Brewers will host the Atlanta Braves for game one of their weekend series this Friday from American Family Field.

Braves Betting Preview

Atlanta moved to 62-32 after dropping two of three to Arizona. The Braves snapped an uncharacteristic four-game skid in game three, and they’ll look to get back on track here in Milwaukee. The Atlanta offense is scoring 3.83 runs per game, while batting .270, with a .339 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.67 ERA, with a 1.26 WHIP. Ronald Acuna Jr. has a hit in five straight games, and he’s leading Atlanta in batting (.332) and hits (127), with 23 HR and 58 RBI. Matt Olson hit a pair of homers in the game three victory, and he leads ATL in home runs (32) and RBI (80). Ozzie Albies has scored a run in seven of the last nine games, and he’s posting a line of .266/22/66.

Michael Soroka (1-1, 5.40 ERA, 19 Ks) will take the mound for Atlanta. The fourth-year pitcher had a short outing against Chicago at home last week, allowing two runs in three innings en route to a Braves loss. Soroka has allowed five hits or more in four of his first five starts, and he’ll attempt to regroup here in Milwaukee.

Brewers Betting Preview

Milwaukee moved to 54-43 after taking two of three from Philadelphia. The Brewers have now won eight of their last ten games, and they’ve appeared to regain their early season form. The Milwaukee offense is 4.56 scoring runs per game, while batting .231, with a .307 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.95 ERA, with a 1.31 WHIP. Christian Yelich has really picked things up, and after homering in three of the previous five games, he leads the Brewers in hits (101) and RBI (54), with fourteen homers. Willy Adames has recorded a hit in seven of the last ten games, and he leads the Brewers in home runs (16), with 46 RBI.

Freddy Peralta (6-7, 4.41 ERA, 113 Ks) will take the mound for Milwaukee. The sixth-year pitcher returned from the All-Star in great form in Cincinnati, striking out six in six scoreless frames en route to his sixth win of the season. Freddy P hasn’t been dominant this year, but he’s been steady, and proved capable of showing up against the toughest lineups. Peralta’s start in Cincy marked his first winning decision since May, so it remains to be seen how he handles the Atlanta lineup here at home.

Atlanta vs Milwaukee Trends

Atlanta is 52-42 against the spread this season, with a 42-46-6 O/U record. Milwaukee is 47-45 ATS this year, with a 49-40-3 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

Milwaukee’s momentum will be worth noting when approaching this series, as well as the notable pitching advantage. Atlanta is proving not to be as matchup proof as we thought, and the Brew Crew have a good shot of taking this first contest. If Freddy Peralta can keep things under control, he should receive the proper run support here, as Christian Yelich is on a heater and leading the charge. Spot Milwaukee the runs here for game one.

Corey’s Pick Brewers +1.5
