The Minnesota Twins will fly out to the Pacific Northwest to start a four-game set with the Mariners this Monday from T-Mobile Park on FS1.

Twins Betting Preview

Minnesota moved to 48-46 after sweeping Oakland. The Twins capitalized on the light return from the break by bringing the brooms out on the Athletics, and they’ll look to keep things going this week. The Minnesota offense is scoring 3.62 runs per game, while batting .233, with a .315 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.44 ERA, with a 1.18 WHIP. Carlos Correa had multiple hits in the first two wins over Oakland, and he leads the Twins in hits (74) and RBI (40), with eleven home runs. Byron Buxton plated runs in those same two victories, and he’s first on the team in homers (13), with 36 RBI. Donovan Solano has recorded a hit in six of the last nine games, and he’s first on the team in batting (.283).

Sonny Gray (4-3, 2.89 ERA, 101 Ks) will take the mound for Minnesota. The tenth-year pitcher closed the first half of the season with his toughest outing of the season against Baltimore, which saw him give up a season-worse six runs in six innings to take his third loss of the year. Gray comes into this contest on the heels of his third All-Star nod, as he’s pitched well overall this season, but he tailed off a bit during June.

Mariners Betting Preview

Seattle enters at 46-46 after dropping two of three to Detroit. The Mariners failed to capitalize on their own light return, and after dropping two of three to Detroit at home, they’ll look to bounce back here against the AL Central. The pitching staff carries a 3.55 ERA, with a 1.19 WHIP. Teoscar Hernandez is hitless over his last three games, but he still leads Seattle in home runs (15) and RBI (49). Ty France was silent in three games against Detroit, but he still leads the Mariners in hits (88), with splits of .254/7/36. J.P. Crawford brings an eight-game hit streak into this matchup, and he’s posting an identical line of .253/8/32. Julio Rodriguez is second on the team in homers (13) and RBI (52).

Logan Gilbert (7-5, 3.66 ERA, 106 Ks) will start for Seattle. The third-year righty closed the first half in great form by winning three of his last four starts, with each of them coming on the road. Gilbert struck out six in seven innings of work last time out in divisional action against Houston, and he delivered a complete game shutout in San Francisco in the start prior.

Minnesota vs Seattle Trends

Minnesota is 45-49 against the spread this season, with a 42-48-4 O/U record. Seattle is 45-47 ATS this year, with a 45-45-2 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

Two middle-of-the-road AL squads will face off this week in a series that should see exchanged blows, and I think the host will strike first here at home. Seattle will be turning to Logan Gilbert who closed the first half of the season on a tear, and this matchup with Minnesota feels more than manageable for him. The Mariners also head into this series with the rare clear advantage at the plate, as the Twins have struggled to find production behind Carlos Correa. Let’s back Seattle for game one Monday.
