The Baltimore offense is scoring 4.95 runs per game, while batting .252, with a .329 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.09 ERA, with a 1.29 WHIP. Cedric Mullins ripped off five hits in the series finale against the Jays, and he leads the O’s in RBI (38). Ryan Mountcastle has produced a run in four of the last six games, and he leads the team in HR (10), with 34 RBI. Austin Hays collected three hits in the game three win over Toronto, and he now leads Baltimore in batting (.311).
Kyle Bradish (2-1, 3.90 ERA, 29 Ks) will take the bump for Baltimore. The sophomore pitcher performed well in his last two outings versus Pittsburgh and Los Angeles, delivering quality starts in both, while allowing just one earned run combined. Anthony Rizzo homered twice against Cincy, and he leads the Yankees in hits (54) and BA (.302). Aaron Judge has produced a run in seven of the last eight games, and he leads the team in HR (13) and RBI (32).
Gerrit Cole (5-0, 2.22 ERA, 62 Ks) will take the mound for New York. The ace of staff put together another strong outing last week in Toronto, striking out six and silencing them for the second time this season. Baltimore comes into this series with some momentum, and while they may be able to steal one of the matchups, I don’t believe it will happen in game one with Gerrit Cole set to go for the Yanks. Cole has been elite at Yankee Stadium this year, and he should be able to slow down a productive Orioles team. The return of Aaron Judge has also brought life Yankees lineup, and I like trusting their big guns here in game one.
