Brandon Nimmo has a hit in eight of the last ten games, and leads the team in batting (.295). Pete Alonso has gone yard in four straight games, including a timely grand slam last night, and he leads the Mets in HR (17) and RBI (41).
Justin Verlander (1-2, 4.76 ERA, 15 Ks) will take the hill for New York. The reigning AL Cy Young winner had a tough time with the talented bats of Tampa last week, allowing six runs in five innings.
