Mariners Betting Preview
Seattle enters at 21-23 after losing to Atlanta. The Mariners couldn’t keep up with the Braves yesterday, and they’ll look to avoid a fourth straight loss here. The Seattle offense is scoring 3.67 runs per game, while batting .227, with a .308 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.55 ERA, with a 1.19 WHIP. Jarred Kelenic has a hit in seven of the last nine games, and he leads the team in batting (.283). Ty France had hit ten-game hit streak snapped in game one, but he still leads the team in hits at 45. Teoscar Hernandez has collected multiple hits in four of t five of the last six, and he’s up to a team-lead 22 RBI.
Logan Gilbert (1-2, 3.91 ERA, 34 Ks) will start for Seattle. The third-year Mariner hasn’t been able to receive many decisions this season, but he’s been reliable. Gilbert did well in Detroit on Sunday, and he delivered a ten strikeout gem in the previous start versus Texas. Gilbert has cleared six strikeouts in all but one of his first eight appearances, with four of those being quality starts.
Braves Betting Preview
Atlanta moved to 27-16 after defeating Seattle. The Braves responded to a four-game skid by playing well versus the Rangers, and they’ll look to start this home stand successfully this weekend. The Atlanta offense is scoring 3.55 runs per game, while batting .257, with a .337 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.55 ERA, with a 1.27 WHIP. Ronald Acuna Jr. has homered in four straight games, and he’s leading Atlanta in BA (.345) and hits (58). Sean Murphy homered in the series finale with Texas, and he’s up to a team-lead 34 RBI.
Jesse Chavez (0-0, 2.50 ERA, 79 Ks) will begin the game for Atlanta. The veteran reliever is set to make the bullpen start, and he’s turned into a valuable asset for the Braves over the past three seasons. Chavez has made 21 appearances this season, and allowed runs in only three of them.
Seattle vs Atlanta Trends
Seattle is 22-21 against the spread this season, with a 22-19-4 O/U record. Atlanta is 19-24 ATS this year, with a 22-18-2 over/under record.
Corey’s Free Pick
Seattle will face a stiff task this weekend in Georgia, but game one could favor the pitchers. The Braves and the Mariners will face off in what could end up being the battle of the Bryce’s, as both squads will send out a strong young arm. Bryce Elder may hold an advantage, being able to take the hill at home, but Bryce Miller has been a bit more impressive, and he may surprisingly be able to hold his own. This will also mark a return to Truist Park for Atlanta after a cross-country road trip that saw them take a few blows, so while I like buying into the theme on the mound, this feels like a ballgame the Braves will bring home.
