The Minnesota Twins will head to LA to begin a three-game interleague series with the Los Angeles Dodgers this Monday night from Dodger Stadium.
Twins Betting Preview
Minnesota moved to 23-18 after taking two of three from Chicago. The Twins exploded in their final two games against the Cubs, and they’ll aim to carry that momentum to Los Angeles this week. The Minnesota offense is scoring 3.7 runs per game, while batting .219, with a .300 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.35 ERA, with a 1.14 WHIP. Jorge Polanco has recorded a hit in eight of the last ten games, and he leads the Twins in batting (.264). Carlos Correa has started to pick things up after a slow start, and after producing a run in four of the last five games, he’s first on the team in RBI (21).
Pablo Lopez (2-2, 3.47 ERA, 62 Ks) will take the mound for Minnesota. The sixth-year pitcher has been sharp over his last two starts against Chicago and San Diego, striking out eight over 6.1 innings and allowing just one run versus the latter last time out. Lopez has been a reliable prop pitcher this season, clearing seven strikeouts in all but one of his first eight outings, with five of those being quality starts.
Dodgers Betting Preview
Los Angeles moved to 26-15 after sweeping San Diego. The Dodgers brought the brooms out on the Padres, and they’re now winners of eight of their last ten games. The Los Angeles offense is scoring 5.04 runs per game, while batting .231, with a .326 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.24 ERA, with a 1.27 WHIP. Will Smith has recorded a hit in eight of his last ten appearances, and he leads the Dodgers in batting (.322). Freddie Freeman has scored in each of the past seven games, and he’s up to team-leads in hits (46) and runs (33). Mookie Betts homered in two wins over the Pads, and he’s up to 8 HR and 23 RBI.
Noah Syndergaard (1-3, 6.32 ERA, 21 Ks) will begin the game for Los Angeles. The eighth-year righty opened at Milwaukee last week in what turned out to bullpen game, and that may or may not be the approach going forward. That might be the best choice for LAD going forward, as Thor cooled off towards the end of the month and the rotation slowly getting healthy.
Minnesota vs Los Angeles Trends
Minnesota is 18-19 against the spread this season, with a 19-17-1 O/U record. Los Angeles is 17-21 ATS this year, with a 21-14-3 over/under record.
Corey’s Free Pick
Los Angeles is streaking into this home series with Minnesota, and despite a noticeable disadvantage on the mound, they have a good shot to open the series with a victory. The Dodgers have been great at the plate this month, and they may be able to get to Pablo Lopez, and produce some offense. The Twins should also find some success against a vulnerable Noah Syndergaard, and it should reflect on the scoreboard. Take the Over for game one of this interleague series.
