The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Milwaukee Brewers will close their three-game series this Wednesday from American Family Field on the MLB Network. Los Angeles controlled all of game two and won by four, 6-2.
Dodgers Betting Preview
Los Angeles moved to 22-15 after defeating Milwaukee. The Dodgers won game two for the fourth straight series, and they’ll look to close strong here. The Los Angeles offense is scoring 5.04 runs per game, while batting .231, with a .326 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.24 ERA, with a 1.27 WHIP. Will Smith has multiple hits in each of the first two games, and he leads the Dodgers in batting (.306). Freddie Freeman has scored in five of the last seven games, and he’s up to team-leads in hits (42) and runs (29). Mookie Betts homered in last nights win, and he’s recorded an RBI in five of the last eight games.
Clayton Kershaw (5-2, 2.53 ERA, 48 Ks) will make the road start for Los Angeles. The veteran southpaw had a tough time in San Diego last week, allowing four runs in 4.2 innings to have his four-game winning streak snapped. Kershaw has been sharp this season, as he’s only allowing more than two runs twice thru seven starts, and he’s cleared seven strikeouts in three of his last four.
Brewers Betting Preview
Milwaukee moved to 20-16 after falling to Los Angeles. The Brewers never got going last night, and they’re in danger of dropping a third straight series to open May. The Milwaukee offense is 4.83 scoring runs per game, while batting .243, with a .320 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.58 ERA, with a 1.24 WHIP. Christian Yelich has recorded a hit in nine of the last ten games, and he leads the Brewers in hits (34) and runs (26). Rowdy Tellez homered last night to bring his team-lead in HR to ten, while racked up 23 RBI.. Willy Adames is tied with him for the team-lead in RBI (23), after producing seven in the last four games.
Wade Miley (3-3, 4.40 ERA, 29 Ks) will take the mound for Milwaukee. We love a good late-career resurgence, that’s what the journeyman year pitcher is giving early on this season. Miley delivered another quality start last week at Coors, which marked his third in his last four outings. Miley’s not a high strikeout pitcher, but he’s managed to eat innings and get outs successfully thus far.
Los Angeles vs Milwaukee Trends
LA Dodgers are 19-18 against the spread this season, with a 20-16-1 O/U record. Milwaukee is 17-19 ATS this year, with a 16-19-1 over/under record.
Corey’s Free Pick
Milwaukee has their backs against the wall with Clayton Kershaw headed to the mound in this rubber match, and I think they come out with some fight. The Brewers have struggled early on this month, and with a road trip looming next week, they have to avoid this skid spreading. The Dodgers should also come out aggressive with their ace on the hill, so I like both lineups mustering enough production to hit the magic number here. Take the Over for this series finale.
