The Atlanta Braves will host the Boston Red Sox for game one of their two-game set this Tuesday from Truist Park on TBS.
Red Sox Betting Preview
Boston moved to 21-15 after taking two of three from Philadelphia. The Red Sox opened the month with six straight wins prior to dropping the series finale to the Phillies, and they’ll look to steal a few games in Atlanta this week. The Boston offense is 4.83 scoring runs per game, while batting .271, with a .341 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.84 ERA, with a 1.33 WHIP. Rafael Devers leads the Sox in RBI (34) after collective seven in a productive week at the plate. Alex Verdugo has a hit in six of eight games, and he leads the team with 42 hits and 27 runs. Masataka Yoshida caught fire last week, and he has multiple hits in five of the last six games.
Nick Pivetta (2-2, 4.99 ERA, 34 Ks) will get the ball for Boston. The seventh-year pitcher put together his best outing of the season versus Toronto, striking out six in six full innings to earn his second victory of the season. Last week marked Pivetta’s first quality start of the season, but he has managed to clear six strikeouts in four of his first six starts.
Braves Betting Preview
Atlanta improved to 24-11 after taking two of three from Baltimore. The Braves bounced back from a game one loss to win the last two matchups, and they’ll seek more success against the AL East here. The Atlanta offense is scoring 5.48 runs per game, while batting .260, with a .340 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.49 ERA, with a 1.24 WHIP. Ronald Acuna Jr. has recorded an RBI in seven of the last ten games, and he’s leading the team in batting average (.338) and hits (46). Matt Olson homered in the series finale versus the O’s, and he’s up to a team-lead ten home runs, with 27 RBI. Ozzie Alvies (.283) has a hit in six of seven games this month.
Charlie Morton (3-3, 3.38 ERA, 32 Ks) will take the hill for Atlanta. The veteran righty was solid in Queens last week despite taking the losing decision, striking out six in 5.1 innings, while allowing four runs to the Mets. Morton delivered three straight quality starts prior to the weather-delayed outing with New York, and he’ll aim to get back on track against Boston.
Boston vs Atlanta Trends
Boston is 21-15 against the spread this season, with a 24-11-1 O/U record. Atlanta is 16-19 ATS this year, with a 21-13-1 over/under record.
Corey’s Free Pick
Atlanta comes into game one with an advantage on the hill, and some momentum of their own, and I like those factors leading to a victory for them here. Charlie Morton has remained steady early in year 16, and a return to ATL could lead to a bounce back performance from him here. Nick Pivetta has been far from consistent this season, and the Braves’ bats should be able to find the necessary production to win this ball game. Back Atlanta in game one of this interleague set, and with both teams trending noticeable positive with the Over, give that a view as well.
