Braves Betting Preview
Atlanta improved to 18-9 after defeating New York. The Braves have win of their last five games, and they’ll look to keep things going this weekend. The Atlanta offense is scoring 5.48 runs per game, while batting .272, with a .352 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.79 ERA, with a 1.33 WHIP. Ronald Acuna Jr. recorded an RBI in the final two games versus Miami, and he’s leading the team in average (.363). Ozzie Alvies produced five runs against the Marlins, and he’s now up to a team-lead 23 RBI.
Spencer Strider (3-0, 1.80 ERA, 49 Ks) will get the ball for Atlanta. The second-year pitcher put on a show in his last outing, striking out a career-high 13 batters over eight shutout innings to earn his third straight winning decision. This will mark the toughest spot of the season thus far for Strider, but he’s cleared nine strikeouts in each of his first five starts, and he’s on the shortlist for the NL Cy Young Award early.
Mets Betting Preview
New York moved to 14-10 following the loss to Atlanta. The Mets have dropped five of the last six games, and they’ll face an uphill battle here. The New York offense is scoring 4.37 runs per game, while batting .234, with a .329 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.16 ERA, with a 1.34 WHIP. Brandon Nimmo leads the Mets in batting average (.341) after recording a pair of hits in the win over Washington. Pete Alonso produced a pair of runs in the season finale, and he’s first on the team in RBI (25).
Tylor Megill (3-1, 3.96 ERA, 19 Ks) will open the series for New York. The third-year pitcher opened the season with three victories, but he struggled during the west coast trip to Los Angeles and San Francisco. Megill suffered the losing decision versus the Dodgers, and he gave up four runs in four innings in the Bay with the Giants last time out. Megill isn’t a high strikeout-rate pitcher, but he’s pitched noticeably better at home, and a return to Queens may help out a bit.
Atlanta vs New York Trends
Atlanta is 12-13 against the spread this season, with a 15-9-1 O/U record. New York is 13-12 ATS this year, with a 10-14-1 over/under record.
Corey's Free Pick
The rain stoppage may have prevented things from getting worse, yes for the hosts. Atlanta was strong in game one, and with Spencer Strider headed to the mound, they can expect another strong outing from him. It should be another good game, but trust the arm of Strider and back the Braves here.
