Roansy Contreras (1-1, 2.45 ERA, 9 Ks) will pitch for Pittsburgh. The second-year pitcher bounced back from a rough start versus Houston by striking out six in six inning of work, while allowing just two runs in a win over St. Louis.

Even without one of the best young players in the league in Oneil Cruz, the Pirates are still thriving offensively and finding ways to win games. Cincinnati has a chance to steal one of these games with one of their young arms, but game one for Luke Weaver could mean trouble for the visitors, and I like Pittsburgh opening the series with a win Thursday.
