They failed to score more than two runs in any of the four games, so it may be another slow season offensively in Phoenix. First baseman Christian Walker recorded a hit in all four games, including a home run in Saturday’s contest. 

Ryne Nelson will take the mound for Arizona. The second-year pitcher came into the picture down the stretch, and put together three solid starts in September. Nelson’s first appearance came at Petco Park against the Pads, where he struck out seven over seven shutout innings.

Padres Betting Preview

San Diego is 2-2 after closing their set with Colorado with a pair of wins. The Padres dropped the first two contests as favorites before rallying and covering in the final two games. Xander Bogaerts has made his presence felt early after coming over from Boston, homering in both wins over the Rockies.

Ryan Weathers is slated to start for San Diego. It may serve as a fifth-day, bullpen start for the second-year pitcher, as the Pads are without top arms Yu Darvish and Joe Musgrove early. Weathers missed most of 2022 with injury, but he posted a 4-7 record with 72 strikeouts over 30 appearances.
