The second-year shortstop crushed a home run to open the scoring, and he produced the game winning run on a SAC fly in the eighth inning.

Rich Hill will pitch for the Pirates this weekend. The ageless wonder enjoyed somewhat of a solid season in 2022, going 8-7 over 26 starts, his most since 2013, while posting a 4.27 ERA and 109 strikeouts.

Cincinnati is 0-1 after falling to Pittsburgh in their opener. The Reds led after five innings, but they’d stall at the plate down the stretch, and lose as favorites. Six Reds recorded hits so that’s a positive sign, with former Giants infielder Jason Vosler leading the way with two RBI.

Nick Lodolo will take the mound for the Reds. Look for big things from the second-year left hander out of TCU this season after closing 2022 on a positive note. Lodolo finished his rookie season with a 4-7 record, 3.66 ERA, and 131 strikeouts.

I loved seeing Rich Hill go to the mound last season, and never turned at an opportunity to target it. I don’t think that trend will change this year, but with surprisingly stronger bats behind him in Pittsburgh then Boston, the oldest player in the majors, will have some insurance. Cinci will hold the advantage on the mound with Lodolo, but that might not prevent the Pirates from producing, so I like these two teams coming together to hit the Over one more time Saturday.
