The Detroit pitching staff did not do well in the Spring, so they will hope for better luck to start the year. The projected starting pitcher for the Tigers is Eduardo Rodriguez, who was 5-5 with a 4.05 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP last year.

The Tampa Bay Rays went 86-76 last season and finished third in the AL East standings. Tampa Bay did make the playoffs last year, but they were swept 2-0 by Cleveland. The Rays were 15-14 during Spring Training this year and had one of the better pitching staffs in the Spring. Tampa Bay is expected to be competitive once again this season, but they are dealing with a couple of key injuries to start the year. The projected starting pitching for Tampa Bay is Shane McClanahan, who was 12-8 with a 2.54 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP last year.
