The Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Angels meet Saturday in MLB action at Angel Stadium. The Seattle Mariners look for a win after splitting their last 10 games. The Los Angeles Angels need a win after losing 6 of their last 8 games.
The Seattle Mariners have scored 13 runs in their last 3 games and 4 or more runs in 5 of their last 7 games the Mariners have won 5 of their last 8 games when scoring 4 or more runs. Julio Rodriguez leads the Mariners with 137 hits and 73 RBI, while Ty France and Eugenio Suarez have combined for 252 hits and 157 RBI. George Kirby gets the ball, and he is 7-3 with a 2.98 ERA and 115 strikeouts this season. Kirby is 2-1 with a 3.06 ERA and 21 strikeouts in his career against the Angels.
The Los Angeles Angels have scored 12 runs in their last 3 games and 4 or more runs in 7 of their last 10 games. The Angels have won 4 of their last 7 games when scoring 4 or more runs. Shohei Ohtani leads the Angels with 137 hits and 88 RBI, while Taylor Ward and Luis Rengifo have combined for 228 hits and 97 RBI. Shohei Ohtani gets the ball, and he is 12-8 with a 2.55 ERA and 188 strikeouts this season. Ohtani is 3-0 with a 2.03 ERA and 40 strikeouts in his career against the Mariners.
The Mariners are 28-9 in their last 37 road games and 51-23 in their last 74 overall. The Angels are 5-1 in their last 6 Saturday games and 10-22 in their last 32 during game 2 of a series. The under is 3-1-1 in Mariners last 5 road games. The over is 6-2-2 in Angels last 10 overall. The Mariners are 6-1 in the last 7 meetings in Los Angeles and 4-0 in the last 4 meetings.
George Kirby has been terrific this season and the Seattle Mariners are obviously the better team here, so there's value with the road team and the cheap price. However, we're getting Shohei Ohtani on the mound at home with an even more favorable price. Ohtani has a 2.19 ERA and .217 allowed batting average at home, and he's had success against the Mariners in his career as well. Ohtani ha allowed a combined 2 runs in his last 20 innings, and he's still playing for a case for the MVP, so there's motivation there. Either way, give me the Angels in this spot.
