The Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians face off on Thursday in an MLB showdown at Progressive Field. This is a huge game for the top teams in the American League Central. 

The White Sox sit with a 73-70 record overall but they have lost two of their last three games. In the last game on Wednesday, the White Sox failed to score any runs and that led to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Rockies. The White Sox’s offense is averaging 4.32 runs per game which is 17th in the league. Andrew Vaughn has hit 15 home runs and driven in 68 RBIs so far this season. 

On the other side of this matchup is the Guardians who sit with a 76-65 record overall and they are coming off another winning day on Wednesday. The offense scored five runs on Wednesday and that was enough to secure the two run victory. Cleveland’s pitching has been the strength this season and they are giving up 3.94 runs per game which is 8th best in the league. Jose Ramirez has hit 27 home runs and driven in 111 RBIs.

On the mound for the White Sox will be Lance Lynn who sits with a 6-5 record and an ERA of 4.07. In his last start against the Oakland Athletics, he went six innings giving up three hits and two runs. 

On the mound for the Guardians will be Hunter Gaddis who sits with an 0-1 record and an ERA of 21.60. In his last only appearance, he went 3.1 innings giving up seven hits and eight runs.

Cleveland is 6-0 in their last six games overall. The over is 4-0-1 in the White Sox’s last five road games. The under is 6-1-1 in Lynn’s last eight starts on grass. 

Gaddis was lit hard in his last 3.1 innings and he’s going to be lit again in this game. Lynn wasn't as strong early in the season, but he has pitched well as of late. Look for Cleveland to not give Gaddis enough run support and that will be enough for the White Sox to get the job done. Back the White Sox.
