The San Francisco Giants and Minnesota Twins have on Sunday in an MLB showdown at Target Field. The Twins have won the first two games of this series including on Saturday when it was a walk off walk that secured the victory.
The Giants come into this game with a 61-64 record overall and the playoff chances might be gone after the loss on Saturday. The pitching was strong, until the 9th and 10th inning and that led to the defeat. The Giants played well to start the season but the last couple of months they have been inconsistent, especially with the pitching, and that has led to the struggles. Wilmer Flores is having a big season hitting 16 home runs and driving in 59 RBIs.
The Twins come into this game with a 64-61 record overall and after some struggles, they have won two games in a row. Just a few weeks ago the Twins were in a playoff spot, but they really struggling to score coming into this series. The Twins offense overall is averaging 4.4 runs per game which is middle of the league. Rookie Jose Miranda has looked good hitting 13 home runs and driving in 55 RBIs so far this year.
On the mound for the Giants is Jakob Junis who sits with a 4-3 record and an ERA of 3.58. In his last start against the Colorado Rockies, he went 6.2 innings giving up five hits and three runs.
On the mound for the Twins will be Aaron Sanchez who sits with a 3-4 record and an ERA of 7.36. In his last start against the Houston Astros, he went four innings giving up six hits and two runs.
The Giants are 4-0 in their last four games on Sunday. The over is 8-1 in the Giants last nine games on Sunday. The over is 7-1 in the Twins last eight interleague games.
I don’t trust Aaron Sanchez who will be making just his third start wti the team, and I expect the Giatns bats will find some success off of him. Junis sits with an ERA of 3.58 and the Twins bats are going to really struggle in this game. Back the Giants to close out this series with a win.
