The Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals face off on Thursday in an MLB showdown at Kaufmann Stadium. The Royals have won two of the first three games of this series.
The White Sox come into this game with a 56-55 record overall. The White Sox are in the middle of the playoff race and these are games that they can’t be losing. The White Sox have a talented offense, but they haven’t lived up to the expectations with it. The White Sox are averaging 4.28 runs per game which is 17th in the league. On Wednesday the White Sox again didn’t score enough and that led to the defeat.
On the other side of this matchup is the Royals who sit with a 46-66 record overall. The Royals at this point are playing spoiler and they could have a big say in who wins the American League Central. The Royals pitching has been their biggest issue this season giving up five runs per game. On offense, the Royals are led by Salvador Perez and he has hit 16 home runs and driven in 49 RBIs.
On the mound for the White Sox is Dylan Cease and he sits with a 12-4 record and an ERA of 1.98. Over Cease’s last three starts he has gone 18 innings and given up only two runs.
On the mound for the Royals is Zack Greinke who sits with a 3-7 record and an ERA of 4.58. In his last start against the Boston Red Sox, he went 4.2 innings giving up seven hits and four runs.
The White Sox are 0-6 in Cease’s last six games on Thursday. The over is 8-0 in Greinke’s last eight start on five days of rest. The under is 5-0 in Cease’s last five starts against a team with a losing record.
Dylan Cease has been so dominant this season and he currently sits with an ERA of 1.98. The Royals offense overall has been an issue and they are going to have some major issues getting anything going against Cease here. Look for the White Sox to score enough off of Greinke who is coming off a game where he gave up four runs. Back the White Sox on the run line.
