The Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners face off on Saturday in an MLB showdown at T-Mobile Park. In the first game of this series, it was the Angels that were able to win 4-3 in extra innings.
The Angels come into this game with a 45-61 record. The biggest issue all season for this Angels team has been the offense and they are averaging 3.90 runs per game which is in the bottom third of the league. MikeTrout is still dealing with rib injuries and it’s unclear when he’s going to be able to come back.
On the other side of this matchup is the Mariners who sit with a 57-50 record and they are right in the middle of the Wild Card race. After a slow start to the season, the Mariners have played well the last couple of months and the pitching has bene the biggest reason why. They are giving up only 3.89 runs per game.
On the mound for the Mariners in Game 1 will be George Kirby and he sits with a 2-3 record and an ERA of 3.58. In Kirby’s last start he four innings giving up three hits and two runs.
On the mound for the Angels in Game 2 will be Reid Detmers who sits with a 2-3 record and an ERA of 3.62. In his last start, he went seven innings giving up three hits and two runs.
Chris Flexen will be on the mound for the Mariners in Game 2 and he sits with a 7-8 record and an ERA of 3.73. In his last start against the Houston Astros, he went 5.1 innings giving up three hits and two runs.
The Mariners are 5-1 in their last six games on Saturday. The under is 6-1-1 in the Mariners' last eight games on Saturday. The over is 4-1-1 in the Mariners' last six games overall. The Angels are 1-5 in their last six Saturday games.
In Game 1, the Mariners will get the job done. George Kirby hasn’t been lights out, but he has still been a solid pitcher sitting with an ERA of 3.58. This Angels offense hasn’t been good averaging 3.9 runs per game, and their lack of scoring is going to be the difference. Back the Mariners.
In Game 2, runs are going to be hard to come by. Even though Flexen doesn’t have a good record, he has been strong overall and in his last start he gave up only two runs. Demters has also been good sitting with an ERA of 3.62. Look for a pitcher's duel here, and the under will cash.
