The Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals face off on Sunday in an MLB showdown at Nationals Park. The Braves have secured wins in each of the frist three games of this series.
The Braves sit with a 56-37 record overall and on Saturday it was the pitching that was the difference giving up only three runs on the way to the victory. After such a slow start to the season, the Braves look like they could win the World Series again this season. The Braves offense and pitching have both been strong. The Braves are averaging 4.76 runs per game which is 4th in the league.
On the other side of this matchup is the Nationals who sit with a 30-6 3 record overall and now there is a ton of chatter about what will happen with Juan Soto who could be traded here soon. The Nationals' offense has been bad, but even worse has been the pitching. The offense is ranked 27th in the league while their defense is ranked 30th in the league. Josh Bell is another player that will probably be traded and he has hit 13 home runs and driven in 50 RBIs.
On the mound for the Braves will be Spencer Strider who sits with a 4-2 record and an ERA of 2.56. In his last start against the New York Mets, he went 4.2 innings giving up five hits and one run.
The Braves are 4-1 in their last five road games. The under is 5-0 in the Braves last five games on Sunday. The under is 5-1 in Strider’s last six starts on four days rest. The under is 4-1 in Nationals' last 5 games vs. a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15.
All the trends point towards the under, and runs are going to be hard to come by in this game. Strider is coming off a start where he gave up only one run, and he is going to lockdown the Nationals here. Look for this to be a lower-scoring game and the under is going to cash with ease.
