The Baltimore Orioles and Chicago Cubs face off on Tuesday in an MLB showdown at Wrigley Field.
The Cubs come into this game with a 34-52 record overall and they were swept in the last series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Outside of the last game the pitching actually wasn’t horrible, but the offense struggled in the first three games. The pitching overall this season has been an issue giving up 5.17 runs per game which is 25th in the league. Patrick Wisdom has been the top offensive player hitting 17 home runs and driving in 45 RBIs.
On the other side of this matchup is the Orioles who sit with a 43-44 record overall and they have won eight games in a row. In the last game against the Los Angeles Angels, the offense scored nine runs and that led to four run victory. The Orioles are averaging 4.14 runs per game which is 22nd in the league. Austin Hays has been the top offensive player hitting 11 home runs and driving in 45 RBIs.
On the mound for the Orioles is Jordan Lyles who sits with a 5-7 record and an ERA of 4.50. In his last start against the Los Angeles Angels, Lyles went six innings giving up five hits and one run.
On the mound for the Cubs will be Adrian Sampson and he sits with a 0-0 record and an ERA of 2.91. In his last start against the Milwaukee Brewers, he went 5.2 innings giving up four hits and one run.
The Orioles are 8-0 in their last eight games overall. The Cubs are 0-7 in their last seven interleague games against a team with a losing record. The under is 4-0 in Lyles last four road games. The under is 7-1 in the Orioles last eight after scoring five or more runs in their previous games.
Lyles is coming off a strong start, and as shocking as it might be, this is a Baltimore team I think we can trust right now. Lyles is going to lock down a Cubs offense that has been inconsistent at best, and that is going to be the difference as the Orioles get the job done. Back the Orioles on the money line.
