The Milwaukee Brewers and Pittsburgh Pirates face off on Sunday in an MLB showdown at PNC Park. The Pirates have won two of the first three games of this series.
The Pirates come into this game with a 32-46 record overall and so far in this series it’s been the offense that has been strong so far in this series. In the two wins the Pirates have scored 15 runs total. Overall the Pirates offense has been an issue giving up 3.73 runs per game which is 28th in the league. Bryan Reynolds has hit 15 home runs and driven in 32 RBIs so far this season.
On the other side of this matchup is the Brewers who sit with a 45-35 record overall but their pitching hasn’t been as good as earlier in the season and that has hurt them this series. Overall the Brewers are giving up 4.21 runs per game which is 13th in the league. Rowdy Tellez has been the top player for the Brewers hitting 16 home runs and driving in 53 RBIs.
On the mound for the Brewers is Brandon Woodruff who sits with a 6-3 record and an ERA of 4.44. In Woodruff’s last start against the Tampa Bay Rays, he went five innings giving up two hits and one run.
On the mound for the Pirates is Jose Quintana who sits with a 1-4 record and an ERA of 3.43. In his last start against the Washington Nationals, he went six innings giving up four hits and one run.
The Pirates are 1-4 in Quintana’s last five starts. The Brewers are 6-2 in their last eight road games. The over is 4-0 in the Pirates last four home games. The over is 6-0-1 in the Brewers last seven same on grass.
Woodruff hasn’t been as good as his record shows, and I expect the Pirates bats are going to stay hot in this game. Quintana is coming off a start where he gave up only one run and he is going to lockdown the Brewers offense. Back the Pirates to get the job done on the money line. Throwing a few dollars on the reverse run line also has value.
