The Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres face off on Wednesday in an MLB showdown at Petco Park. The Padres have won the first two games of this series, including in extra innings on Tuesday.
The Diamondbacks come into this game with a 32-38 record overall and the offense has been a big issue for this team. The offense has only scored three runs total and they need the offense to be a whole lot better in this game. The Diamondbacks are averaging 4.06 runs per game which is 23rd in the league. The pitching hasn’t been a whole lot better giving up 4.61 runs per game. Christian Walker has had a big season hitting 18 home runs and driving in 36 RBIs.
On the other side of this matchup is the Padres who sit with a 43-27 record overall but the offense has struggled as of late. In each of the last five games, the Padres have scored four runs or less. The Padres are averaging 4.7 runs per game while their defense is giving up 3.75 runs per game. Manny Machado is still dealing with an ankle injury and it’s unclear if he is going to be healthy enough in this game.
On the mound for the Diamondbacks is Madison Bumgarner who sits with a 3-6 record and an ERA of 3.45. In his last start against the Minnesota Twins, he went six innings giving up nine hits and two runs.
The Diamondbacks are 1-4 in Bumgarner’s last five starts. The under is 4-0-1 in Bumgarner’s last five starts on grass. The under is 4-1 in the Padres last five games on grass. The over is 4-0 in Bumgarner's last 4 road starts vs. a team with a winning record.
The Padres bats haven’t been great this season, but they are going to break out of that slump here. Bumgarner has struggled as of late, and the Padres will score at least five runs here. Back the Padres on the money line. If you want some added value I am throwing a few dollars on the Padres with the run line.
