The Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals face off on Tuesday in an MLB showdown at Busch Stadium in a double header. Let’s take a look at a prediction for each of the games. On Monday it was the Cardinals that were able to secure the 7-5 victory. 

The Cardinals currently sit with a 35-27 record overall and they have won three of their last four games. The Cardinals offense is ranked 6th best in the league averaging 4.76 runs per game. Paul Goldschmidt is having a big season hitting 13 home runs and driving in 48 RBIs. 

On the other side of this matchup is the Pirates who sit with a 24-35 record overall and have lost seven games in a row. During the stretch, the offense wasn’t great, and the five runs they scored on Monday was the most during the stretch. The Pirates are averaging 3.59 runs per game. Michael Chavis has hit six home runs and driven in 22 RBIs.

On the mound for the Pirates in Game 1 is JT Brubaker who sits with an 0-6 record and an ERA of 4.60. In his last start against the Atlanta Braves, he went seven innings giving up six hits and three runs.  

On the mound for the Cardinals in Game 1 is Matthew Liberatore who sits with a 1-1 record and an ERA of 5.54. In his last start against the Chicago Cubs, he went 3.1 innings giving up six hits and four earned runs.

On the mound for the Pirates is Bryse Wilson who sits with an 0-3 record and an ERA of 7.53. 

On the mound for the Cardinals in Game 2 is MIles Mikolas who sits with a 4-4 record and an ERA of 2.93. In his last start against the Tampa Bay Rays he went eight innings giving up three hits and two earned runs. 

In Game 1 it’s going to be all about the offense for both teams. Brubaker has been awful sitting with an ERA of 4.60. Liberatore hasn’t been any better and in his last start, he went 3.1 innings giving up four runs. Both offenses are going to tee off on the pitching and the over is going to cash here. 

In Game 2, it’s going to be the Cardinals that win in blowout fashion. The Pirates send Wilson to the mound and he has been awful this season sitting with a 7.53 ERA. The Cardinals offense has been strong all season, and they are going to go over their season average. Back the Cardinals on the run line.
