The Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Angels face off on Saturday in an MLB showdown at Angel Stadium. In the first two games of this series, the Blue Jays secured the victory.
The Blue Jays come into this game with a 25-20 record overall and it looks like they have gotten their season back on the right track. The Blue Jays have won three games in a row and during those three games they have given up only seven runs. George Springer is having a big season hitting nine home runs and driving in 26 RBIs.
On the other side of this matchup is the Los Angeles Angels who sit with a 27-20 record overall and they have lost three games in a row. Over the last three games, they have scored only eight runs total. One big problem for this Angels team right now is injuries and Ohtani wasn’t in the lineup on Friday night with a back injury. The hope is this is a short-term issue and not something that will hurt them on all season.
On the mound for the Blue Jays is Yusei Kikuchi who sits with a 2-1 record and an ERA of 3.47. In his last start against the Reds, he went 4.1 innings giving up two hits and two earned runs.
On the mound for the Angels is Michael Lorenzen who sits with a 5-2 record and an ERA of 3.05. In his last start against the A’s he went six innings giving up three hits and zero runs.
The Blue Jays are 0-4 in Kikuchi’s last four road starts. The over is 5-0 in the Blue Jays' last five games on grass. The over is 4-0 in Lorezen’s last four starts. The over is 9-1-1 in the Blue Jays last 11 road games against a right-handed starter.
Runs are going to be very hard to come by in this game. Kikuchi has been strong this season and in his last start he gave up only two runs. Lorenzen is coming off a game where he gave up zero runs. The Angels offense has been an issue coming into this game and it’s going to continue to be an issue in this game. Back the under to cash.
