The Colorado Rockies and Washington Nationals face off on Saturday in an MLB showdown at Nationals Park. Friday’s game was rained out so this will be a doubleheader.

The Rockies sit with a 20-24 record overall but they have lost two games in a row. In the last game against the Nationals, the offense could only manage three runs, and that led to the defeat. The Rockies offense has been strong this season, but their pitching has really let them down at times. C.J. Cron has been the top player for the Rockies hitting 12 home runs and driving in 34 RBIs.

On the other side of this matchup is the Washington Nationals who have struggled this season but they have won two games in a row. Two games ago against the Dodgers it was some really strong pitching, only giving up one run, that was the difference on the way to the victory. The top offensive player has been Josh Bell who has hit four home runs and driven in 25 RBIs.

On the mound for the Rockies in Game 1 is Austin Gomber who sits with a 2-4 record and an ERA of 4.11.

On the mound for the Nationals in Game 1 is Aaron Sanchez who sits with a 3-3 record and an ERA of 7.16. The Nationals are going to need a good start from Sanchez to secure the victory.

On the mound for the Rockies in Game 2 is Chad Kuhl who sits with a 3-2 record and an ERA of 3.67. In his last start against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Kuhl went 4.1 innings giving up five hits and one run.

On the mound for the Nationals in Game 2 is Joan Adon who sits with a 1-8 record and an ERA of 6.97. In his last start against the Dodgers, he went 4.2 innings giving up seven hits and six runs.

The Nationals are 0-6 in Adon’s last six starts. The Rockies are 5-1 in their last six games on Saturday. The Rockies are 4-1 in Kuhl’s last five starts against a team with a losing record, The over is 4-1 in the Nationals last five games overall.

In the first game, it’s going to be a ton of scoring by both teams. Sanchez currently sits with an ERA of over seven. The Rockies offense is one of the top in baseball, and they will find success off of Sanchez here. Look for the Nationals to add a couple of runs, and the over is going to cash.

In Game 2 it’s going to be the Rockies offense that finds a ton of success. In Adon’s last start he gave up six runs, and the Rockies bats will tee off on him here. The Rockies are going to run up the score and secure the victory on the run line.
