The Boston Red Sox face the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday, May 11th, 2022 at Truist Park for game two of a two-game series.
The Boston Red Sox defeated the Atlanta Braves by the final score of 9-4 on Tuesday night to take game one of this interleague series. The Red Sox's offense was struggling quite a bit going into this series, and going up against the toughest pitcher in this Braves rotation thus far, Kyle Wright, it did not look to be the best matchup for Boston. However, the Red Sox bats were on fire on Tuesday as it was an offensive breakout for a team that really needed one. The Red Sox still have a lot of work to do as they have dug themselves a pretty deep hole in the AL East standings, now 10.5 games out with an 11-19 record. The Braves fall to 14-17 on the year with the loss as they are also off to a slow start to the 2022 campaign.
The Boston Red Sox are projected to bring right-hander Nathan Eovaldi to the mound to face the Braves. Eovaldi is 1-1 with a 2.94 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP through his first 33.2 innings of work this season. Eovaldi started the season slow but has pitched well as of late and will look to toss a quality outing here against a tough Braves lineup.
The Atlanta Braves are set to bring righty Ian Anderson to the bump for game two of this series. Anderson is 3-1 with a 4.01 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP through his first 24.2 innings of work in 2022. Anderson has had issues with the walks this season, as he finds himself behind in the count often. Anderson has 18 strikeouts in 24.2 innings and a whopping 15 walks in that stretch as well.
I do not feel confident with Anderson on the mound in this spot against a Red Sox lineup that destroyed the Braves' pitching staff on Tuesday. I think Boston sweeps this two-game set and gets to Anderson early. I will take the Red Sox on the money line here.
