The Cleveland Guardians face the Chicago White Sox on Monday, May 9th, 2022 at Guaranteed Rate Field for game one of a three-game series. 

The Cleveland Guardians took three of four against the Toronto Blue Jays this weekend at Progressive Field. The Guardians are now 7-5 this season at home, but only 7-9 on the road, where they will be in this series. The Guardians swept the White Sox a couple of weeks ago at Progressive Field, and the Sox will look for some revenge in this set. The White Sox are on a roll right now, as even though the offense has not been the sharpest, the pitching staff has been incredible. The White Sox held the Red Sox to two or fewer runs in each of the three games at Fenway Park this weekend in a three-game sweep. The White Sox are now above .500 and are only three games out of the AL Central division lead. 

The Cleveland Guardians are projected to bring right-hander Zach Plesac to the mound for game one of this series. Plesac is 1-3 with a 4.44 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP through his first 26.1 innings of the season. Plesac only has 16 strikeouts this season and he has also conceded four home runs in 2022 as well.

The Chicago White Sox are projected to send righty Michael Kopech to the mound to face the Guardians. Kopech is 0-0 with a 1.17 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP through his first 23.0 innings of the season. Kopech has pitched really well for this White Sox rotation this year, as this is the first season he has taken the next step as a starter rather than an opener or reliever out of the bullpen. 

I think the White Sox are going to get some revenge on the Guardians in this series. Chicago is playing its best baseball of the season and although the Guardians hit right-handed pitchers well, this White Sox pitching staff is on a different level right now. I think the White Sox get to Plesac and win this ballgame at home.
