The Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks face off on Sunday in an MLB showdown at Chase Field.
The Colorado Rockies currently sit with a 16-11 record overall and they probably don’t get enough attention for what they have done this season. The Rockies have won three of their last four games, and in two of the three wins they gave up two runs or less. The offense is good which should be expected playing their home games at Coors Field, but this is a solid pitching rotation. C.J. Cron has been the top offensive player for the Rockies hitting nine home runs and driving in 24 RBIs.
On the other side of this matchup is the Diamondbacks who sit with a 14-14 record overall and they had won four games in a row before losing on Saturday. The offense had been finding success the last week, but in the last two games, they have only scored five runs total. There have been four different players for the Diamondbacks who have driven in 11 runs.
Getting the start for the Colorado Rockies is German Marquez who sits with an 0-2 record and an ERA of 6.92. In his last start against the Nationals, Marquez went five innings giving up 10 hits and seven runs.
On the mound for the Diamondbacks is Zac Gallen who sits with a 1-0 record and an ERA of 1.27. In Gallen’s last start against the Marlins he went 6.1 innings giving up five hits and two runs.
The Diamondbacks are 1-8 in Gallen’s last nine starts on five days rest. The under is 5-0-1 in the Diamondbacks' last six games overall. The over is 4-0 in Marquez’s last four starts on grass. The under is 7-0-2 in the Diamondbacks' last nine home games against a right-handed starter.
Overall the Rockies pitching staff is good, but one expectation is German Marquez who has been awful. In each of his last two starts, Marquez has given up seven runs. Look for the D-Backs offense to find success, and that will be the difference as the home team gets the job done. Back Arizona on the money line.
