The Atlanta Braves and New York Mets face off on Tuesday in an MLB showdown in a doubleheader at Citi Field. When these two teams faced off on Monday it was the Braves that secured the 5-2 victory.
The Braves come into this game with an 11-13 record overall, but they still have a ton of confidence with the roster they have. The Braves had lost two games in a row against the Rangers before winning on Monday. The offense wasn’t strong in the previous two games. Austin Riley has been the top player for the Braves hitting seven home runs and driving in 14 RBIs.
On the other side of this matchup is the Mets who sit with a 16-8 record overall, but they have lost two of their last three games. In the two losses the offense only scored three runs total, and they need to find more offensive production in this doubleheader. Chris Bassitt did go seven innings on Monday, so the bullpen should be fresh for these games.
Getting the start in the first game for the Braves will be Charlie Morton who sits with a 1-2 record and an ERA of 7.00. In his last start against the Cubs, he went 2.1 innings giving up four hits and three runs.
Getting the start in the second game for the Braves will be Kyle Wright who sits with a 3-0 record and an ERA of 1.13. In Wright’s last start against the Cubs, he went seven innings giving up three hits and one run.
In Game 1 I expect the Mets are going to be the team that comes out on top. In Morton’s last start he only went 2.1 innings, and this is going to be a game where the Mets offense is going to have a big game. Back the Mets -1.5 to cash.
In Game 2, it’s going to be the Braves that come out on top. Kyle Wright has been lights out all season, and when the Mets' offense has struggled, they have had issues getting enough pitching to come away with the victory. Look for the Braves to lean on Wright, and the Braves will secure the victory.
