The Los Angeles Angels face the Chicago White Sox on Friday, April 29th, 2022 at Guaranteed Rate Field for game one of a four-game series.
The Los Angeles Angels are coming off a four-game sweep of the Cleveland Guardians in which the Halos were able to cover the run-line in each win. The Angels are red hot going into this series with five-straight victories and an offense that is hitting the cover off of the ball. The Angels are now 13-7 this season and will be playing in their eighth road game of the season on Friday night. Los Angeles is currently 1.5 games ahead of the Mariners for first place in the American League West standings. The Angels are 5-2 on the road so far this season and will take on a White Sox team that has seen better days. Chicago was able to snap its big losing streak on Wednesday afternoon but dropped Thursday's contest against the Royals to get back on the losing side of things. The White Sox are now 7-11 this season but remain one game above .500 at home at 5-4.
The Los Angeles Angels are projected to bring right-hander Noah Syndergaard to the mound to take on the White Sox. Syndergaard is 2-0 with a 2.12 ERA and a 0.82 WHIP through his first 17.0 innings with his new club. Syndergaard's strikeout numbers are down a bit in 2022, but his groundball rate has been excellent and he is not allowing many fly balls at all. For that reason, Syndergaard is yet to allow a home run in 2022.
The Chicago White Sox are set to bring their ace in Lucas Giolito to the mound. Giolito is 0-0 with a 1.13 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP through his first 8.0 innings of work this season. Giolito has not had a lot of work yet this season as he was injured for a short time, but he has pitched well in his first couple of outings in 2022.
Although Giolito has been sharp, the White Sox's bats have not been, and passing up plus money with a red hot Angels team is something I just cannot do. Syndergaard should make life difficult for the White Sox hitters and I like the Halos to find a road victory here.
