The Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles face off on Friday in an American League East showdown at Oriole Park.
The Red Sox come into this game with an 8-12 record overall and they lost three of their last four games against the Toronto Blue Jays. In the last game, the offense failed to get on the board, and they were defeated 1-0. The Red Sox are averaging 3.6 runs per game which is 21st in the MLB. Alex Verdugo has been the top player for the Red Sox hitting three home runs and driving in 13 RBIs. In this game the Red Sox are going to need to give some run support for Rich Hill if I’m not sure can really be trusted.
The Baltimore Orioles have had an awful start to the season and they currently sit with a 6-13 record overall. The Orioles have lost four games in a row and in the three games against the Yankees they gave up 27 runs. On Thursday, the Orioles had 14 hits but only had five runs cross the plate. Austin Hays has been the top offensive player hitting two home runs and driving in nine RBIs.
Getting the start for the Red Sox will be Rich Hill who sits with an 0-1 record and an ERA of 4.85. In his last start, he went four innings giving up four hits and zero runs. After two starts that he struggled in, maybe Hill is turning it around.
The Red Sox are 1-4 in their last five games. The Orioles are 1-4 in their last five home games against a team with a losing road record. The under is 7-1 in the Orioles last eight games against the American League East.
Rich Hill was better in his last start, but in his first two starts he went nine innings giving up seven hits. The Orioles are coming off a game where they had 14 hits, and I expect they are going to find success again against Hill here. The Red Sox bats are going to be ice cold again, and the Orioles will win here.
