The Toronto Blue Jays and Houston Astros face off on Sunday in an MLB showdown at Minute Maid Park. When these two teams faced off on Friday the Blue Jays secured the 4-3 victory. On Saturday it was much of the same as the Blue Jays won 3-2.
The Blue Jays currently sit with a 10-5 record and they have to have a ton of confidence with the way they have played as of late. In each of the last two games the Blue Jays have had to come back against the Astros to secure the wins. The top offensive player has been Vlad Guerrero Jr who has hit five home runs and driven in 11 RBIs.
On the other side of this game is the Astros who sit with a 6-8 record and their biggest issue all season has been with the offense. In most games the offense has had issues scoring runs and with all the talent, it’s been a bit shocking. Alex Bregman has been the top offensive player for the Astros hitting three home runs and driving in 11 RBIs.
On the mound for the Blue Jays will be Yusei Kikuchi and he sits with an 0-1 record and an ERA of 3.24.
Getting the start for the Astros will be Luis Garcia and he sits with a 1-0 record and an ERA of 2.79. In his last start against the Angels, he went 5.2 innings giving up four hits and three runs.
The Blue Jays are 9-2 in their last 11 against the American League West. The Blue Jays are 4-0 in their last four road games against a team with a winning percentage less than .400. The under is 6-1-1 in Garcia’s last eight starts against the American League East.
I expect both pitchers are going to perform pretty well, but Luis Garcia is going to do a little better, and that will be the difference. Look for the Blue Jays to only score a run or two and that will be the difference as the Astros get the job done. Back the Astros on the money line.
