The San Francisco Giants face the Washington Nationals on Sunday, April 24th, 2022 at Nationals Park for game three of a three-game series.
The San Francisco Giants continued their winning ways as they earned another win in this series by the final score of 5-2 Saturday afternoon. The Giants have clinched a series win with the victory in game two and will look for the series sweep Sunday afternoon. The Giants have been able to strike early in both of their wins in D.C with their starting pitchers and strong bullpen being able to take care of the rest. The Giants are now 10-5 this season and are currently in second place in the NL West behind the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Washington Nationals' losing streak was extended to four games after the loss on Saturday. Washington has struggled on both sides of the ball as of late and will look to at least salvage the final game of this series before it hosts the Marlins at the start of next week.
The San Francisco Giants are projected to bring right-hander Logan Webb to the mound to take on the Marlins. Webb is 1-1 with a 2.55 ERA this season through his first 17.2 innings of work. Webb has been rather consistent for the Giants in 2022 and will look for another quality start on Sunday. Webb has not allowed a single home run in his 17.2 innings this season and his WHIP is standing at just above 1 at 1.08.
The Washington Nationals' probable starter at the moment is Joan Adon, but this could change as Josiah Gray could also be in line to start Sunday's contest. If Adon is the starter, he will look to continue to pitch the way he did last time out against the Diamondbacks. Adon on the season has a 1-2 record and a 5.87 ERA through 15.1 innings of work.
No matter who the Nationals officially start in this one, I like the Giants' chances for a three-game sweep of this series. San Francisco has proven that it is the far better team and I think the winning continues on Sunday.
