The Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Angels face off on Sunday in an MLB showdown at Angel Stadium. In Game 1 on Friday the Orioles scored five runs, and won by two. On Saturday, the Orioles again were able to secure the 5-4 victory.
The Angels were probably feeling a little better about their season before their last two games against the Orioles. They didn’t play terribly in either of the games, but they couldn’t secure the wins. Brandon Marsh has been the top offensive player hitting two home runs and driving in 13 RBIs.
It’s been a bad start to the season but they have been more competitive than years past and they have wins over teams like the Yankees and Angels. This Orioles offense still isn’t great, so when they find success it’s been the pitching that has been key. Cedric Mullins has been the top player for the Orioles hitting two home runs and driving in eight RBI’s.
Getting the start for the Orioles will be Chris Ellis and in his first start he went 4.1 innings against the Oakland Athletics giving up four hits and zero runs.
Getting the start for the Angels will be Jose Suarez and he sits with a 0-1 record and an ERA of over four. In his last start against the Angels, he went 4.1 innings giving up five hits and three runs.
The Angels are 3-13 in Suarez’s last 16 home starts. The under is 5-0 in the Angels last five home games. The under is 4-0-1 in Ellis last five starts overall. The under is 4-0-1 in Ellis' last 5 starts following a team loss in their previous game
All the trends point towards the under, and I expect that is exactly how this game will workout. Look for both starting pitchers to be good in this start, and especially the Orioles bats are going to be ice cold. Look for a 3-1 or 4-1 type of game, and the under is going to cash. In terms of the side, it's a lean to the Orioles to pull the upset.
