The Pittsburgh Pirates and Milwaukee Brewers face off on Wednesday in an MLB showdown at American Family Field. In the first game of this series it was the Brewers that won 6-1. On Tuesday it was much of the same as the Pirates came away with the 5-2 victory.
The Brewers offense really struggled to start the season but they seem to be turning it around, and the offense has looked better. On Tuesday the Brewers scored four runs in the 2nd inning and that was enough to secure the victory. Rowdy Tellez has been the top player for the Brewers hitting two home runs and driving in seven RBI’s. Christian Yellich has also hit a home run and driven in six RBI’s.
On the other side of this matchup is the Pirates who sit with a 5-6 record overall and they had won two games in a row before losing the first two games fo this series. Michael Chavis has been the top offensive player for the Pirates hitting a home run and driving in six RBI’s.
Getting the start for the Pirates will be Mitch Keller who has really struggled to start the season. Keller has gone 7.2 innings giving up 13 hits and eight runs.
Getting the start for the Brewers will be Brandon Woodruff and he sits with a 1-1 record and an ERA 7.27. After an awful first start, he went five innings in his last start giving up three hits and zero runs against the Cardinals.
The Pirates are 20-50 in their last 70 games against the National League Central. The Brewers are 5-2 in their last seven games. The Pirates are 15-37 in their last 52 meetings against the Brewers. The under is 4-1 in the last five meetings between the two teams.
The Brewers have won their first two games of this series and it’s going to be no different in this game. Look for the Pirates offense to again be an issue in this game, and the Brewers will also give Woodruff plenty of run support. Back the Brewers on the run line.
