The Minnesota Twins face the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday, April 20th, 2022 at Kauffman Stadium for game two of a three-game series.
The Kansas City Royals defeated the Minnesota Twins by the final score of 4-3 on Tuesday night at Kauffman. The Twins started the game with a strong 3-1 lead after four innings of play. The Royals were able to tie and take the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning and Kansas City would never look back. Salvador Perez hit two home runs in the win, and Hunter Dozier's solo shot ended up being the game-winning run. The Royals are now 4-4 at home this season and 4-5 overall this season, while the Twins fell to 4-7 on the year, as Minnesota has not been able to string together wins as of late, going 2-5 in its last seven.
The Minnesota Twins are projected to bring right-hander Chris Paddack to the mound for game two of this series. Paddack did not start his first season with his new club in the best of form, as he was only able to pitch 4.0 innings against the Dodgers and earned the loss in the end. Paddack enters his second start with the Twins with a 6.75 ERA. Paddack will look for a sharper, more complete outing in this one.
The Kansas City Royals are set to send left-hander Daniel Lynch to the bump to take on the Twins on Wednesday. Lynch was rocked in his first start of the season, as he allowed three home runs and six total earned runs in a lopsided loss for the Royals. Lynch now owns an 0-1 record and a double-digit ERA at 10.80. Lynch was able to strike out seven batters in 5.0 innings, but that was the only positive in what was a miserable 2022 debut.
I like the Twins to bounce back here and earn the win on the road. I cannot trust Daniel Lynch in this one, especially facing a Twins' lineup that owns plenty of power right-handed batters such as Miguel Sano, Carlos Correa, and Gary Sanchez. Lynch has had major issues with the long ball and I think the Twins take advantage in this one.
