The Los Angeles Angels and Houston Astros face off on Wednesday in an American League West showdown at Minute Maid Park.
When these two teams faced off on Monday it was the Astros that won 8-3. On Tuesday the Angels got some revenge beating the Astros 7-2.
The Angels come into this game with a 7-5 record overall and the offense finally got back on the right track on Tuesday. Los Angeles scored five runs in the 5th inning and that was enough to secure the victory. Brandon Marsh has been the top offensive player hitting a home run and driving in 10 RBI’s.
On the other side of this matchup is the Astros who sit with a 6-5 record overall and for most of the season they have leaned on the pitching to find success. The Astros offense is averaging only 3.73 runs per game, and it caught up to them again on Tuesday when they scored only two runs. Alex Bregman has been the top player hitting two home runs and driving in eight RBI’s.
Getting the start for the Angels will be Shohei Ohtani and he sits with an 0-2 record and an ERA of 7.56. After winning the MVP last season, it has been quite the disappointing start to the season.
Getting the start for the Astros is Jake Odorizzi and in his last start against the Mariners he went 4.1 inninsgs giving up eight hits and four runs.
The Astros are 4-1 in their last 5 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. The Angels are 0-5 in Ohtanis last 5 starts vs. American League West. The Angels are 0-5 in Ohtani's last 5 starts. The over is 6-0-1 in the Angels last 7 road games. The over is 5-0 in the Angels last 5 road games vs. a right-handed starter. The over is 4-0-1 in the Angels last 5 overall.
Ohtani has struggled to start this season and I don’t see it being any different in this game. I don’t see Odorizzi being lights out, but he is going to be good enough to lead the Astros to a victory. Back the Astros on the money line.
