The Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians face off on Wednesday in an American League Central showdown at Progressive Field. The White Sox and Guardians were postponed again on Tuesday and they are expected to play a doubleheader in this game.
The White Sox come into this game with a 6-3 record overall but in the last game against the Tampa Bay Rays they lost 9-3. They gave up 12 hits in that game, and that type of pitching isn’t going to be good enough, especially in a doubleheader. Andrew Vaughn has been the top player hitting two home runs and driving in six RBI’s.
On the other side of this matchup is the Guardians who sit with a 4-5 record and they lost three games in a row against the San Francisco Giants. The offense has been a big issue for this team all season.
Getting the start for the White Sox in Game 1 will be Dallas Keuchel who went five innings in his first start giving up six hits and three runs.
On the mound for the Guardians in Game 1 will be Shane Bieber and in 10 innings this season he has given up four hits and four runs.
Getting the start for the White Sox in Game 2 will be Jimmy Lambert and in his first start of the season he went three innings giving up two earned runs.
Getting the start for Cleveland in Game 2 is Triston McKenzie and on the season he has pitched seven innings giving up five hits and two runs.
The White Sox are 5-1 in their last six games during Game 2 of a series. The under is 3-0-1 in Lambert’s last four games. The under is 6-1 in McKenzie’s last seven home starts. The under is 5-1 in White Sox last 6 games vs. a right-handed starter.
In Game 1 it’s going to be Cleveland that gets another nice start from Bieber and that will be enough for the Guardians to win.
In the second game, I expect both offenses are going to have issues with their scoring chances, and neither team will have many runs cross the plate. Look for Game 2 to be low scoring and the under will cash.
