The San Francisco Giants and New York Mets face off on Tuesday in an MLB showdown at Citi Field in New York. This is a doubleheader and this will be a preview for both games.
The Mets come into this game with a 7-3 record overall and they won two of their three games against the Arizona Diamondbacks over the weekend. The Mets have gotten good pitching all season and that has ledo tho the success. The top offensive player for the Mets has been Pete Alonso who has hit three home runs and driven in 14 RBI’s.
On the side of this matchup is the GIants who sit with a 7-2 record and they are coming off three straight wins over Cleveland. The Giants gave up only four runs total to the Guardians and they are going to need good pitching again in this game. Thairo Estrada and Brandon Belt have been the top players for the Giants on offense.
Getting the start for the Giants will be Logan Webb in Game 1 and in 14 innings he has given up nine hits and two runs. In his last start against the San Diego Padres, he went eight innings giving up four hits and one run.
Getting the start for the Mets will be Max Scherzer in Game 1 and in his last start against the Phillies he gave up five hits and one run.
There has been no starting pitcher announced for the second game.
The Giants are 5-1 in their last six games played on Tuesday. The Mets are 6-2 in their last eight home games. The under is 4-1 in the last five meetings between the Giants and Mets. The Giants are 6-1 in their last seven meetings against the Mets.
The Giants have found a ton of success over the Mets the last few games, and I expect they will continue the success in this one. The Giants actually have an advantage on the mound with Logan Webb and the bats for the Mets are going to be ice cold in this game. Back the Giants on the money line in the first game.
In the second game, I expect both pitching staffs are going to be strong, and that will lead to this game being lower scoring. Back the under to cash. There isn’t a strong play on the side in Game 2.
