The San Francisco Giants and New York Mets face off on Monday in an MLB showdown at Citi Field.
The Giants come into this game with a 7-2 record and away from home they have a perfect 3-0 record. The Giants have won five games in a row including three games over the weekend against the Cleveland Guardians. The Giants offense has been good but even better has been the pitching. The Giants are giving up only 2.22 runs per game which is the best in all of baseball. The top offensive player for the GIants has been Thairo Estrada and he has hit two home runs and driven in eight RBI’s.
On the other side of this matchup is the Mets who sit with a 7-3 record and on Sunday they were able to beat Arizona 5-0. The Mets won two of the three games over the D-Backs. The Mets offense has also been good, but they also really lean on their pitching staff. The Mets are giving up only 2.5 runs per game which is second in baseball. The top offensive player has been Pete Alonso who has hit three home runs and driven in 14 RBI’s.
Getting the start for the Giants will be Alex Cobb and coming into this game he sits with a 1-0 record and an ERA of 3.60. Cobb went five innings giving up four hits and two runs.
On the mound for the Mets will be Tylor Megill and he has been quite impressive so far this season. In 10.1 innings so far this season he has given up six hits and zero runs.
The Mets are 0-5 in their last five games played on Monday. The Giants are 4-0 in their last four games against a team with a winning record. The under is 6-1 in the Giants last seven road games. The Under is 14-3-1 in Mets last 18 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600.
The trends point towards the under and both teams have gotten good pitching all season. I expect Megill and Cobb to both lockdown and that is going to lead to this game being lower scoring. Back the under to cash.
