The Houston Astros and Los Angeles Angels face off on Monday in an MLB showdown at Minute Maid Park. This is a great early season test for both teams.
The Angels come into this game with a 6-4 record overall and they are coming off three straight wins over the Los Angeles Angels. On Sunday the offense had another strong game scoring eight runs. The Angels offense has been strong this season averaging 4.9 runs per game which is eighth best in the league. Brandon Marsh has had a big season hitting a home run and driving in eight RBI’s.
On the other side of this matchup is the Houston Astros who sit with a 5-3 record but they are coming off a disappointing loss on Sunday. The offense only scored two runs and that led to the loss. The Astros offense hasn’t been great to start the season and they have had to lean on the pitching. The Astros are giving up only 3.13 runs per game which is fifth best in the league. Alex Bregman has been the top player for the Astros hitting two home runs and driving in seven RBI’s.
Getting the start for the Angels will be Michael Lorenzen and he sits with a 1-0 record and an ERA of 1.50. In his first start of the season he finished with seven strikeouts.
On the mound for the Astros will be Luis Garcia and in his first start of the season against the Diamondbacks he went four innings giving up two hits and zero runs.
The Astros are 1-4 in their last five home starts. The Angels are 2-8 in their last 10 games during game 1 of a series. The over is 5-0-1 in the Angels last six road games. The under is 4-0 in Garcia's last four starts.
Both pitchers were strong in the first game ,and I don’t see a whole lot of offense by either team, especially the Astros. Look for both pitchers to go deep in this game and that is going to lead to this game staying under the total. Back the under.
