The Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox face off on Sunday in an American League MLB showdown at Fenway Park.
In the first game of the series it was the Twins that won 8-4. In the second game the Red Sox got some revenge winning 4-0.
The Twins have gotten out to a slow start to the season and they currently sit with a 3-5 record. The offense has been an issue for this team, and if they want a chance in this game they are going to need to find a way to get the offense going. Byron Buxton has been the top player for this team but he is dealing with a knee injury and is out for this game.
On the other side of this matchup is the Boston Red Sox who sits with a 4-4 record and they got some really good pitching on Saturday. Alex Verdujo has been the top player for the Red Sox hitting three home runs and driving in seven RBI’s.
Getting the start for the Twins will be Bailey Ober who really struggled in his first start of the season. He went five innings against the Seattle Mariners giving up four hits and four runs.
Getting the start for the Red Sox will be Michael Wacha and in his first start of the season against the Detroit Tigers he went 4.1 innings giving up two hits and one run.
The Twins are 5-2 in their last seven road games. The Red Sox are 3-7 in their last 10 games overall. The Twins are 2-6 in their last eight meetings against Boston. The under is 6-1 in the Twins last seven games against the American League East. The under is 4-0 in Ober’s last four starts on the road.
Ober didn’t look good in his first start of the season and I expect he is going to struggle again. The Twins also aren’t going to give him any run support, and that will be the difference in this game. Look for the Red Sox to score six or seven runs, and they will get the job done on the run line.
