The Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals face off on Sunday in an American League MLB showdown at Kauffman Stadium.
The first two games were won by the Tigers, but the Royals secured a victory on Saturday. The highest scoring game had six runs scored but Saturday’s game was a 3-1 finish.
The Kansas City Royals come into this game with a 3-5 record overall and the big issue has been with the scoring. Even though they were able to secure the victory on Saturday they still only scored three runs. Salvador Perez has been the top player this year hitting two home runs and driving in four RBI’s.
On the other side of this matchup is the Tigers who sit with a 4-5 record but each of the last three games it’s been the pitching that has kept them in the game. Much like the Royals, the TIgers haven’t been a team that has been running up the score but they need to find a way to get the offense going. Spencer Torkelson has been the top player for the Tigers hitting two home runs and driving in five RBI’s.
Getting the start for the Tigers will be Tyler Alexander who struggled in his first start. Against the Red Sox he went 5.1 innings giving up five hits and three runs.
On the mound for the Royals will be Carlos Hernandez who also struggled in Game 1. He went 4.1 innings against Cleveland giving up six hits and four runs.
The Tigers are 2-6 in their last eight games on grass. The Royals are 3-7 in their last 10 home games against a left handed starter. The under is 22-7-1 in the last 30 meetings between the two teams. The under is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Kansas City.
Both of the starting pitchers weren’t great in their first starts, but both of these offenses are so bad, offense is still going to be an issue. The Royals and Tigers bats are both ice cold and this game is going to be lower scoring again. When these two teams faced off the under has been a strong play, and the under will cash.
