The Los Angeles Angels and Texas Rangers face off on Friday in an MLB showdown at Globe Life Field. When these two teams faced off on Thursday it was the Rangers that came away with the 10-5 victory.
The Angels actually jumped ahead out to the 2-0 lead, but then the Rangers offense scored four runs in the second inning and never looked back as they cruised to the victory.
The Angels seemed to be a wild card heading into the season and they have gone 3-4 to start the season. The Angels had won two games in a row before the pitching staff let them down on Thursday night. The Angels are averaging 3.57 runs per game while they are giving up five runs per game. Brandon Marsh has been the top player for the Angels hitting a home run and driving in six RBI’s.
On the other side of this matchup is the Texas Rangers who have only won two games this season but their offense has to have some confidence after what they were able to do on Thursday. The Rangers are averaging 6.3 runs per game but their pitching staff has been a problem giving up 5.83 runs per game.
Getting the start for the Angels will be Reid Detmers and in his first start of the season he went four innings against the Astros he gave up three hits and two runs.
The Rangers are 1-4 in their last five home games. The Rangers are 4-1 in their last five games against a left-handed starter. The under is 4-0 in the Angels last four games overall. The over is 4-1-1 in the Angels last six games during Game 2 of the series. The under is 6-1 in the Rangers last seven home games against a left handed starter.
The Rangers offense has been strong this season, but their pitching staff has been an issue and I expect that will be the case again. Look for the Rangers to run up the score, and the Angels will do much of the same. I expect this game will have 11 or 12 runs scored, and the over is going to cash.
