The Oakland Athletics and Philadelphia Phillies face off on Sunday in Game 3 of their MLB series at Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies have come away with victories in the first two games. In game one the Phillies won 9-5 and on Saturday they again came away with the 4-2 victory.
The Phillies have a ton of confidence with their offense and they have looked good in the first two games. On Saturday the Phillies scored two runs in the first inning and never looked back as they got the job done. Nick Castellanos has been a great addition for the Phillies and he had two runs driven in on Saturday.
On the other side of this matchup is the A’s who traded away most of their good pieces this offseason and they appear to be in the middle of a rebuild. On Saturday the offense really struggled for most of the game until they were able to score one run each in the 8th and 9th inning. Jed Lowrie was the top player for the A’s finishing with two hits and one RBI. In this game, the A’s are going to need to find a way to get the offense going.
Getting the start for the A’s will be Daulton Jefferies and the hope is he can be a regular in the rotation. Last season Jefferies pitched 15 innings and eight strikeouts and an ERA of 3.60.
Getting the start for the Phillies will be Zach Eflin and during the 2021 season he had a 4-7 record and an ERA of 4.17.
The A’s are 2-5 in their last seven interleague games on the road. The Phillies are 6-1 in their last seven home games. The over is 6-2 in the A’s last eight interleague games. The under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings in Philadelphia. The under is 14-2 in the last 16 meetings between the A’s and Phillies.
The A’s offense hasn’t looked good so far this season and I don’t see that changing in this game. The Phillies offense is going to get to Jefferies early in this game and they aren’t going to let up when the bullpen comes in. Look for the Phillies to score seven or eight runs, and they will win this game on the run line.
