The New York Mets face the Washington Nationals on Sunday, April 10th, 2022 at Nationals Park for game four of a four-game series.
The New York Mets clinched a series win with a 5-0 victory on Saturday night over these Nationals. The Mets will go for the four-game sweep on Sunday afternoon as they have dominated this series thus far on the road. The bats have been strong for the Mets as they have scored five or more runs in each of the three wins. The pitching has also been there for New York, as the team has only allowed a total of four runs in those three wins. The Mets were aided on Saturday by Pete Alonso as Polar Bear went deep for a grand slam to break it open for the Mets in the middle innings. The Mets are hitting .347 as a team in this series while the Nationals are only hitting at a measly .177 clip as a club.
The New York Mets are set to bring Cookie, Carlos Carrasco to the mound to make his season debut. Carrasco did not have a great year in 2021 with his new team, as he posted a 1-5 record with a 6.04 ERA. Carrasco also struggled in spring training, owning an ERA above 5.00 in the 8.1 innings he pitched in the preseason.
The Washington Nationals are projected to bring right-hander Erick Fedde to the hill to take on the Mets here. Fedde is coming off a fantastic spring training in which he pitched 9.1 scoreless innings, striking out eight batters along the way and only allowing five base hits. Fedde has had issues with allowing free passes as his BB/9 has been rather high in his career thus far. Fedde walked four batters during the spring, and he will have to work on his location this season or he will struggle yet again in 2021.
I think we see some more offense from the Nationals in this game than we have seen in the first three games of this series thus far. The Mets will continue to score and I think they can put up 6+ in this one themselves. I like the over here as I think this pitching matchup sets us up for an offensive shootout, hence the steep total.
