The Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs face off on Sunday in Game 3 of their MLB opening weekend series at Wrigley Field.
The Chicago Cubs couldn’t have asked for a better start to the season. On Thursday Chicago was able to win 5-4 and on Saturday the Cubs offense put up nine runs as they cruised to the victory.
So far this series the Cubs have scored 14 runs, and the only hope is they can continue to find success scoring like this. Seiya Suzuki looks to be the real deal for this club, and on Saturday he had one hit and three runs driven in. Rafael Ortega also looked good finishing with one hit, a walk, and two runs.
On the other side of this matchup is the Milwaukee Brewers who have high expectations for this season, but the first couple of games have been an issue. In the first game the Brewers scored four runs but the bats really didn’t get going until the last couple of innings. On Saturday the Brewers only had four hits and didn’t have any runners cross the plate. It’s still early season but a loss in this game would be a major hit to the confidence.
Getting the start for the Brewers will be Freddy Peralta who finished last season with a 10-5 record and an ERA of 2.81.
On the mound for the Cubs will be Marcus Stroman and last season with the Mets he finished with a 10-13 record and an ERA of 3.02.
The Brewers are 1-6 in their last seven games against a left handed starter. The Cubs are 5-1 in their last six games. The Brewers are 19-8 in their last 27 meetings against the Cubs. The under is 27-8-3 in the Brewers last 38 meetings in Chicago. The under is 3-1-1 in The Brewers last five games overall. The over is 9-4-1 in the Cubs last 14 games against the National League Central.
Stroman didn’t always get the most run support last season with the Mets but that is going to be different in this game. I am not saying the Cubs are going to score eight or nine runs, but they are going to score at least four runs, and Stroman is going to lock the Brewers bats. Back the Cubs on the money line,
