The Cleveland Guardians and Kansas City Royals face off on Saturday in an American League MLB showdown at Kauffman Stadium. These two teams faced off on Thursday and it was the Royals that came away with the 3-1 victory.
There are a ton of questions surrounding this Cleveland team and how they will perform this season and it’s clear after the first game that the offense might be an issue. Jose Ramirez was one of the only bright spots for Cleveland in the first game finishing with a hit and an RBI. Myles Straw also had a strong game finishing with two hits, one walk, and one run. In this game they are going to need the offense to be better.
On the other side of this matchup is the Kansas City Royals who scored two runs in the 8th inning to secure the victory. Bobby Witt Jr, Andrew Benintendi, and Nicky Lopez all drove in a run. Hunter Dozier also looked good getting a hit and scoring a run. Even though they found success and came away with the win, the offense is going to need to be better as they go forward in this series.
Getting the start for the Guardians will be Zach Plesac and last season he finished with a 10-6 record and an ERA of 4.67.
On the mound for the Royals will be Brad Keller and 2021 was a struggle for him. Keller finished with an 8-12 record and an ERA of 5.39.
The Guardians are 9-3 in their last 12 games following a loss. The Guardians are 36-15 in their last 51 after scoring 2 runs or less in their previous game. The Guardians are 15-33 in their last 48 vs. a team with a winning record. The Royals are 1-5 in their last six games following a win.
If the Royals want any chance in this game they are going to need to give Brad Keller a lot of run support and I just don’t see it happening. The Royals offense wasn’t all that great in Game 1 and I don’t think they will finish above the three run mark in this game. Back Cleveland to win on the run line.
