The Los Angeles Dodgers will visit the Colorado Rockies in an opening day matchup in the National League Central division matchup from Coors Field Stadium on Friday Afternoon. The weather is expected to be pleasant with clear skies.
The LA Dodgers should look to make a deeper run in the postseason this year. Los Angeles had a 106-56 record overall and a 48-33 record on the road last season. The Dodgers averaged 8.2 hits per game last season and totaled 237 home runs.
The Dodgers agreed to a contract to bring back Kershaw but also added Freddie Freeman who is fresh off a world series win with the Braves. They also added Jorge Soler and Nelson Cruz in the off season. They did, however, lose veteran Pujols to the Cardinals.
Walker Buehler is slated to be the Opening Day starter. Last season he was 16-4 with an ERA of 2.47, a .97 Whip and 212 strikes.
The expectations for the Rookies are extremely low this season as they were last season. Colorado went 74-87 overall and 48-33 at home a season ago. The Rockies slugged .414 with a .317 on-base percentage as a team in the 2021 season.
Kyle Freeland is the Opening Day starter and last season he was 7-8 with an ERA of 4.33 a 1.42 whip and 105 strikes.
The Dodgers are 4-1 in their last 5 road games vs. a left-handed starter and are 9-3 in their last 12 games vs. a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15. The Dodgers are also 47-17 in their last 64 overall. The Rockies are 0-4 in their last 4 games as a home underdog and are 0-6 in their last 6 games as an underdog. The Rockies are also 1-6 in their last 7 vs. National League West.
The Dodgers are 19-7 in the last 26 meetings in Colorado and are 41-13 in the last 54 meetings.
The Dodgers should be able to pick up right from where they left off last season. I expect them to easily get the win here as they open the season with high hopes as the Rookies have complete opposite expectations this season. I’ll back the Dodgers here on the road.
